Mirage Tower, Phase 1, Abudhabi, UAE

The al Otaiba complex proposal is the result of a series of operations based on the notions of geology and geography.

  1. Over the bare site, like a floating mirage, hovers a section of ground. its reflecting envelope vibrates under the sun, distorting the visual perception of its limits.
  2. Under this floating box, the ground floor plane is sculpted and distorted in order to enable a porous circulation through the site from all sides.
  3. The upper surface of this mirage volume is a continuity of the neighbouring park, thus integrating a rich and green environment at the heart of the project.
  4. Similar to extracted core ground samples, three layered and textured towers are extracted from the ground, revealing on their facades the underground composition.
  5. Whereas the horizontally textured residential towers float above the mirage volume, detaching themselves from the mother ground, the hotel core stays firmly anchored as it projects itself towards the skies and, through its stratified composition and the unique thematic gardens it contains, strongly reminds us of the geological origins of all construction. competition finalists
